Constant hardness forged steel support roll
Sinosteel Xingji's newly developed equal hardness forged steel back-up rolls have outstanding performance and use advantages over conventional products:
First, the hardness of the roller surface is more uniform. The uniformity can be within 2HS, and the hardness drop of the entire working layer is only 2HS, which truly achieves the uniformity of the working layer hardness in three dimensions;
The second is that the organization of the working layer is all martensite. The grains of the entire working layer are very uniform and fine, which can effectively solve the problems commonly encountered when using small diameter rollers;
Third, it has higher resistance to contact fatigue.

The backup roll is an important spare part on the rolling mill. It has the characteristics of large specifications, high value, and long service life. Once problems occur during use, it will affect the rolling efficiency of the entire rolling line, resulting in increased cost per ton of steel.
Conventional forged steel back-up rolls generally have problems such as uneven wear of the roll body, roughening and peeling of the roll surface, and significant decline in working layer performance in the later stages. These problems have affected the normal rolling of the rolling line.
At the same time, with the upgrade of work rolls, conventional back-up rolls can no longer match them, hindering the overall improvement of rolling efficiency. It can be said that the replacement of forged steel backup rolls is imminent.
At present, Sinosteel Xingji has provided equal-hardness forged steel back-up rolls to more than a dozen customers around the world. The products have been used on the machine one after another, and customers have responded well.
The performance of the equal hardness forged steel back-up roll is obviously superior to that of ordinary forged steel back-up rolls. It can exert its excellent performance on various black, non-ferrous cold, hot strip rolling mills and single-stand rolling mills, and has a wide application prospect.
In the future, it will definitely replace ordinary forged steel backup rolls.
